Taking responsibility

Safeguarding

“Palmer's College is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment."

We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment, where young people and staff are respected and valued.

The term “safeguarding children and young people” has a focus on child protection and prevention from any potential harm. This includes for example, staff recruitment, safety within the curriculum, anti-bullying, health, well-being and personal safety.

The Student Services team at Palmer’s College teams up with other services and agencies to share information to work together to protect students from harm.

All students, whilst at the College or engaged in any college activities, can be assured that their welfare and safety is of paramount importance to us.

Palmer’s College trains its staff on Safeguarding issues and procedures. We have a Designated Senior Member of staff, Alison Ross, Assistant Principal to lead on Safeguarding in the College. Nickie Hillebrandt is the Deputy Designated Person, supported by a team of staff from Student Services and Human Resources.

In addition, a Governor has designated responsibility for Safeguarding (Rajan Mohile).

Safeguarding is given the highest priority at Palmer’s College and plays a major part in the recruitment and appointment of staff, Governors, volunteers and contractors with the required checking procedures. Palmer’s College is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
