Foundation Governors

The Senior Management Team of the College report to the Members of a Board, which is known as the Sixth Form College Corporation, and which has many responsibilities for the proper functioning of the College. The Members of the Corporation are sometimes known as the Governors of the College.

The Trustees appoint four of the Members of the Corporation who are described as Foundation Members (or Foundation Governors).

According to the Instrument of Government of the Corporation, a Foundation Governor means a person nominated by the Trustees appointed under the Trust Deed for the purpose of securing, as far as practicable, that the established character of the institution (namely its character immediately before it began to be conducted by the Corporation) is preserved and developed and, in particular, that the institution is conducted in accordance with the provisions of any trust relating to it.

This special responsibility of the Foundation Governors includes remembering the legacy of our founder, William Palmer, and his wish that those local children who are in need, should be helped.

From time to time, vacancies occur for Foundation Governors and if you are interested in becoming a Foundation Governor of the College, please will you kindly write to the Clerk to the Trustees, at the College, enclosing a copy of your Curriculum Vitae.
