Some students have already decided on their future plans but many others have not. The College’s award-winning* Careers Department is an essential service for all students. It provides those who have specific ambitions with the guidance necessary to achieve their aims. Students who have not yet decided on a future career receive the advice and information needed to make an appropriate choice.
The Careers Department arranges for visiting speakers from Higher Education and the world of work to come into the College. Comprehensive advice is provided on university applications. University prospectuses, reference books, information on student finance and access to the Internet are all available in the Careers Library.
A visit to a Higher Education Convention is organised annually and transport is organised for over 400 students to attend this valuable exhibition.
Specialist support is given for university tests in Medicine, Veterinary Science and Law and also for students applying to Oxford and Cambridge.
Our job search programme encourages students to apply for appropriate employment. Help is given with writing CVs and preparation for interviews. Job vacancies and training places are advertised in the weekly Careers Bulletin and recently via the Careers Facebook and Twitter pages.
Students are welcome in the Careers Centre at any time to carry out research into careers or Higher Education. They may also make an appointment at a convenient time to see our specialist team of qualified Careers Advisers.
*The College was re-accredited the Recognition of Quality Award in July 2014, acknowledging the excellent careers education and guidance on offer at Palmer's College.
