Business Studies

Length of course one year

Entry criteria

A combination of C, D and E grades at GCSE. If you do not have a grade

C in GCSE Maths or English we expect you to resit these.

Why study Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate in Business Studies?

This course will give you the opportunity to complete assignments based on situations linked to working in different businesses. The assignments will help develop your communication, numeracy, IT, time management and teamwork skills. You will be assessed continuously during the year towards an overall grade at the end of the year.

What do I study?

You will study a range of core and optional units, topics include:

• Enterprise in the business world

• Finance for business

• Small business planning

• Promoting a brand

• Principals of marketing

• Business online

• Working in teams

Where next?

Many of our students progress on to a Level 3 course such as the BTEC Extended Diploma in Business, alternatively you can progress to work based training such as a pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship or employment.

There is a diverse range of professions where Business Studies will be beneficial, either directly from College or following university, including: banking, business administration, civil service, charity sector, e-business, finance and accounting, human resources, retail, logistics, marketing, self-employment; start up, training/teaching.
