Maria Stevens, Director of Thurrock Teaching School Alliance, was joined by the Mayor of Thurrock at Palmer's College to celebrate the completion of the Preparing to Teach Taster Programme.
The programme, led by Thurrock Teaching School Alliance, is in its third year, with plans for a fourth programme in place for September.
Students with an interest in becoming a teacher are invited to join the programme to gain an insight into the teaching profession. Arranged over six months, the enrichment programme gives participants the opportunity to visit a number of Thurrock schools, which this year included St Clere’s School, East Tilbury Primary School, Stifford Clays Primary School, Treetops School and Beacon Hill Academy among many others.
Students were also given the opportunity to teach micro-lessons to groups of students at William Edwards School and also at Little Thurrock Primary School. A variety of workshops on different aspects on teaching and learning were led by teachers from local schools, and the students were also able to visit Canterbury Christchurch University to learn further about the routes into teaching.
