This week, we caught up with Katie Butler, here is what she said:
I studied A-level History, Law and German at Palmer's College between 2007 and 2009. I knew prior to attending Palmer's that I wanted to pursue a career in Law and selected my A-levels based on this. Law was an obvious choice as this was the subject that interested me the most, History complemented my legal studies by teaching me essential skills such as researching and analysing and German added a language to my skill set.
After leaving Palmer's College I attended the University of Westminster between the years 2009 and 2013 where I obtained a degree in Law and a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
I subsequently spent a year working as a Legal Costs Draftsman for an independent company in the city, before joining a law firm ranked as a Legal 500 firm. I was fortunate enough to obtain a training contract at this firm and have only recently completed this in September 2017.
Training contracts enable individuals with my qualifications to qualify as a solicitor following a two year period of training. These contracts can be difficult to obtain and I felt very fortunate to have been offered this opportunity.
Now that I have completed my training contract I will qualify as a solicitor and be admitted to the roll of solicitors on 15 September 2017. I am incredibly excited as I will be joining Paul Robinsons Solicitors as a Company Commercial Solicitor in September 2017. My career is only just starting and I can’t wait to continue to learn and grow.
