Palmer’s College’s open evening in October had a record number of visits from interested students and parents. Over 1200 people came to see the facilities and courses that were on offer.
The positive response was overwhelming and, apart from the comprehensive choice of courses, the main comments were about the friendly atmosphere and helpfulness of the staff. One student said: ‘They put me at ease immediately and gave me helpful suggestions. They talked to me like an adult and not just to my parents and I really appreciated that.’
There was a prize draw for £80 of Vue cinema tickets for pre-registering and Thomas Backhouse, the winner, was delighted by both his prize and the College. ‘I want to study Music Performance and the course sounds really interesting plus the teacher was really great. He was friendly, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. I can’t wait for my interview’.
Mark Vinall, the Principal, said: ‘At Palmer’s, we pride ourselves in our accessibility. At Palmer’s there is a place for everyone and I am proud of our staff who are friendly as well as professional. We provide an alternative to school and prepare students for their next step. This year we were overwhelmed with interest and so we opened our admissions early for people who don’t want to miss out.’
