The award-winning Careers Centre is located next to the Lower Student Centre. It is open from 9.00am to 4.30pm each day. It is also open when the exam results are published in August. It is staffed by Nancy Drysdale, Careers Guidance Adviser, and Tracy Downes, Careers Assistant.
We support the College Careers Education and Guidance programme. Parents may also make an appointment to see a Careers Guidance Adviser at any time, or your tutor or subject teacher may recommend that you have a careers interview.
The Careers Library contains a wide range of resources, including books, information leaflets and University prospectuses. Access to the internet and other computer guidance programs, such as Higher Ideas and Degree Course Descriptions, are available. Students are encouraged to use these resources to research career ideas or higher education courses.
The Careers Bulletin is published weekly with ‘Inprint’, with information about University Open Days, job vacancies, important deadlines, events/workshops organised by the Department.
The Careers Centre also host a number of student events on campus where a number of universities and employers are invited to showcase their organisations and offer career advice to students around university and employment.
A UCAS parents evening and finance evening takes place usually in September every year and provides useful advice and information for parents whose sons/daughters are thinking about going on to university.
