Tutoring

At Palmer’s College you will be encouraged to take a lot of responsibility for your own progress and achievement, but, right from the start, you will receive the right kind of guidance that will help you set realistic goals and achieve success.  The tutorial system is crucial to your success at College.  There are 85 tutor groups, comprising of both 1st and 2nd year students.

Tutor Group

When you arrive at College we want to make sure that you get as much support as possible to ensure you are successful at Palmer’s College. So, every student joins a Tutor Group (TG) made up of both first and second year students. They will come from various schools and will be studying a variety of subjects. Each Tutor Group has a student who is nominated as the TG Representative. With their help and that of your tutor, you will soon find your way around College and settle into student life. You’ll see your tutor every day and once a week there is a Group Tutorial where you’ll explore important issues related to student life. Every TG is also allocated a Head of Faculty to give you extra support when needed.

Personal Tutor

Your personal tutor will help you to decide on the best course to follow. They will also see you regularly on a one-to-one basis to make sure everything is going smoothly. Your tutor can also ensure you receive additional support as and when you need it, such as: careers advice, counselling, individual help with study and help with any other aspect of your life. Students say that they really value having a personal tutor, so we hope you make full use of yours during your time at Palmer’s College.
