If your family income is less than £30,810 a year (this figure is subject to change annually), then you may well qualify for the Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) – forms will be available during Year 11.
Access Grants are financial grants available to students who require a particular financial need. Parents/Guardians of the student need to be in receipt of income based benefits in order to be eligible to apply for the grant.
*Please note, the College may not be able to meet every application we receive but will endeavour to do so.
Students need to apply each term for an access grant and can apply throughout their time at Palmer's College. However, students must maintain full attendance and make progress throughout their course. Failure to comply with either of these requirements and the other conditions stated in the application can result in a withdrawal of the grant.
Further information about Access Grants is available from the General Office at Palmer's College.
During 2008, the Trust funded between 25% - 50% towards the cost of students participating in trips as part of their Geography, Biology, PE, Sport & Leisure, Business Studies Courses. A wide range of other residential educational visits were funded by the Trust and these included Alsace France, Germany, Barcelona, New York, Washington, Cumbria, Arran, Wales, Peterborough, Loughborough, Orielton Pembrokeshire and Caernarfon.
Day visits to conferences, drama productions, galleries and concerts were part funded by the Trust who also provided Support grants and Higher Education Interview expenses to needy students at the College.
The Trust awarded 69 prizes for achieving 3 A grades at A-level or equivalent, 29 bursaries for achieving 3 A grades at A-level or equivalent and attending university, 81 prizes for achievement at A level and BTEC, 22 prizes for 100% attendance and 17 prizes for achievement at AS level as well as 34 prizes for distinction at BTEC Introductory Diploma or First Diploma Award.
The above represents just a small part of that which the Trust does in a material way to assist the students at Palmer’s College. Equally important is the fact that the Trust seeks to encourage in the students, a life long affinity with the College and its ethos, by helping to provide opportunities for intellectual, academic and personal development within a caring and supportive environment.
