College bus prices for 2011/12
For many years we have been able to heavily subsidise the cost of buses to College so that students only had to pay a fraction of the total cost of their transport for the year. This year, due to recent government funding cuts, the cost of buses has increased for 2011/12.
However, we are still subsidising the cost of transport to and from Palmer’s.
Students living in Thurrock
College transport is provided in partnership with Thurrock Council and is £330 for all students who live in Thurrock and are more than a three miles walk from the College.
Students living outside Thurrock
We also provide transport for students who live outside Thurrock, at a subsidised rate of £480 per year. This works out to £2.52 a day.
However, if you are in receipt of Income Support, JSA, and in some cases, Working Tax Credit with an annual income of below £16,190, transport will be reduced to £280 for the year.

The cost is £35 plus £1 admin charge. It's valid for 28 days and can be used any time of day, including weekends on both networks of the operators.
Bus passes can be purchased from the Finance Office at Palmer's College and can be used from September 2011.
Please contact us if you have any questions about the College bus service.
Rail Links
If you live in East London there are excellent C2C rail links to get you to College from Barking/West Ham areas. Students living in and around Dagenham and Redbridge tend to get to the nearest College bus pick up point, which is Hornchurch or Rainham.
Bus Links
There are a number of buses that come right outside the College from Grays station and surrounding areas.
Car Parking on Campus
Students wishing to bring cars and motorcycles to College must have their vehicles registered by the Head Student Supervisor and must attend a ‘safe driving’ presentation. Students should use the car park at the rear of the College, or the overflow car park, which is situated adjacent to the tennis courts. Students may not use the spaces for visitors and staff. Students will need to produce a valid driving licence, certificate of insurance and MOT certificate (where applicable).
Please note that parking places at the College are in short supply at certain times of the year. There may be occasions where it is not possible to issue a car parking pass and your name will be added to a waiting list.
The College will not accept any liability for vehicles or bicycles parked on site, however does encourage students to use the bike sheds.
PLEASE NOTE: Parents picking up students – If you are collecting or dropping your son/daughter at College by car, could you please note that you should arrange this outside the College grounds. Pick up is not permitted on the College site.
