Palmer’s College student Rowland Seymour, 17, secures a week’s work experience at the House of Commons.

With the help and support from the College’s award winning Careers Department, Rowland applied to a number of high profile Government organisations including
The European Council, The European Union and other embassies. He was successful with his application with The House of Commons in pursuit of some work experience.

Working in the Social and General Statistics Library, Seymour hopes that the experience will further his passion for studying Maths at university.
He also hopes to gain an insight of what the Library is actually used for and apply his Maths skills in the real world and not just in College.

A-level student Rowland, said: “Now I have my foot in the door, I hope to look for as many different opportunities as possible and gain as much experience as The House of Commons can offer me.”

He added: “My advice to students seeking work experience is to keep trying, I had many rejections but I didn’t give up and I’m so glad that I didn’t. The Careers Service have been instrumental and provided me with lots of support and guidance.”

Mark Vinall, Principal of Palmer's College said: "This is a wonderful example of how our students are supported in pursuing work experience opportunities to further their experience and knowledge. I'm sure Rowland will enjoy his time at the House of Commons."

Rowland is currently studying German, Physics, Further Maths, Double Maths and the A1 Critical Thinking Course.
