Whilst studying at Palmer’s College some students participate in work experience or volunteering opportunities as either part of the course they choose to study or independently. Placements have included roles within Solicitors, Banks, Nurseries, Care Homes, Airports, Hospitality and Professional Football Clubs with the help of the Employer Engagement Manager.
Some students choose to undertake an independent work placement which fits around their studies but is not part of the course they have chosen. They complete a placement during evenings, weekends or College holiday periods because it is beneficial to their career aim to gain work experience in a particular field.
Examples include students wishing to follow careers in journalism who undertook placements with a local newspaper and a student wishing to become an architect who completed work experience with the planning department of a local authority. Other independent placements have included roles in a laboratory, pharmacy, vets and as a professional football coach.
Many students choose to use their spare time to volunteer their services in connection with a variety of projects including riding for the disabled, school and youth projects and community garden projects.
