Why study the ILEX Diploma for Legal Secretaries?
This two year course offers the ILEX (Institute of Legal Executives) Level 2 Diploma for Legal Secretaries in the first year and the ILEX Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries in the second year. This gives you the skills required to pursue a legal secretarial career and an indepth insight into the legal environment. This course can be combined with one or two A-levels.
What do I study?
ILEX Diploma for Legal Secretaries which includes:
• legal word processing and legal audio transcription
• working in the legal environment eg organisational structures in the legal environment, the legal profession and what they do, office equipment, legislation, planning and prioritising your work, maintaining effective customer relationships, organising travel, events and diary management
• spreadsheets and databases
OCR Certificate/Diploma in Text Processing Levels 2 and 3 to include:
There is a compulsary two week work experience placement at the end of year one. This can be undertaken either locally or at one of the London legal firms sich as Clifford Chance, Allen & Overy and Berwin Leighton Paisner.
Where does the ILEX Diploma for Legal Secretaries take me?
On completion of this course, you can pursue a career as a legal secretary. You may then wish to take examinations to become a Legal Executive and later you may wish to study to become a Solicitor. Palmer’s College has strong links with legal firms in London and locally and our students are regularly offered placements with these firms.
What do I need?
You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C, including English.
