Why study the Legal Secretarial Course with Office Skills?

This course is a two year course for students who wish to take three or four A levels plus the Legal Secretaries with Office Skills course. It does not lead to an ILEX qualification – see ILEX Diploma for Legal Secretaries. You will learn how to produce legal documents and learn legal terminology as part of the OCR Certificate/Diploma in Text Production at levels 2 and 3, plus you will study Business Communications. Level 2 is studied in the first year and level 3 in the second year.

What will I study?


OCR Text Processing Certificate/Diploma – Levels 2 and 3 which includes:

• text production
• word processing
• legal text processing
• legal word processing
• legal audio transcription
• business presentations (PowerPoint)

Business Communications includes learning how to produce a variety of business documents e.g. business letters, memos, reports, agendas, faxes, e-mails, questionnaires, advertisements etc.

Where does the Legal Secretarial with Office Skills Course take me?

On completion of this course, you can pursue a career as a Legal Secretary. Palmer’s College has strong
links with legal firms in London and locally and our students are offered placements with these firms each year.

What do I need?

You will need the standard entry qualifications for level 3, i.e. a minimum of two Bs and four Cs courses but GCSE English at grade C or above is essential.
