BTEC Diplomas (Level 2): Sport

 

Why study the level 2 BTEC Diploma in Sport?

This is a practical course which will give you the opportunity to complete assignments and activities based on realistic situations linked to working in the sports and leisure industry. It will give you a good feel for what it will be like to work in the industry as well as developing your skills. You will be assessed on assignment work and there are no formal exams.

What do I study?

You will study two core units and four specialist units.

The core units are:
• fitness testing and training
• practical sport

The core units give you an introduction to the industry and develop your knowledge of how to prepare and prevent injury.

The specialist units will be chosen from:
• anatomy and physiology for sport
• injury in sport
• sports development
• planning and leading sports activities
• expedition experience
• exercise and fitness instruction
• psychology for sports performance
• nutrition for sports performance
• development of personal fitness
• work experience in the sports industry

Where does the level 2 BTEC Diploma in Sport take me?

When you have completed the course, you can move on to a level 3 course such as the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport or you can seek employment, for example in a leisure centre.

What do I need?

An interest in the sport and leisure industry and in developing your own practical skills and the skills needed to work with people.
