BTEC Diplomas (Level 2): Music

 

Why study the Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Music?

The BTEC Diploma in Music will give you the opportunity to develop your understanding of some aspects of the music/music technology industry. It is a highly practical, vocational course allowing you to develop your skills using industry standard equipment within sequencing, recording and composition. You will have the opportunity to develop your interests and skills in this popular and successful area of study.

What do I study?


The qualification consists of two core units and four specialist units over one year. These will be assessed through assignments and course work, there are no formal examinations. The areas of study are as follows:

Core units:

  • working in the music industry
  • professional development in the music industry
  • planning and creating a music product

Specialist units:

  • exploring musical composition
  • producing a musical recording
  • understanding music
  • exploring an area of music

Where does the Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Music take me?

Learners who have completed the level 2 BTEC Diploma in Music will have a grounding in a range of musical skills and areas, which will act as solid background for progression to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Music Technology and the possibility to work in the music/music production industry.

What do I need?

• An interest in all aspects of music, music technology and music production
• The ability to work independently and with others
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work to task to meet deadlines
