Why study the Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Health & Social Care?

The Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care is intended to provide you with an introduction to the Health & Social Care sectors. In particular it will help you develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required of those who work in the Health & Social Care occupations such as their job responsibilities and their relationship with patients or service users.  You will be encouraged to visit the Health & Social Care setting (hospital, homes for the elderly, etc) and learn first hand about how such services work.

What do I study?


There are two compulsory units which cover:
 

  • communication in health and social care
  • individual rights within the health and social care sectors
  • ensuring safe environments in health and social care

In addition there are four optional units covering:
 

  • cultural diversity in health and social care
  • human lifespan development
  • creative therapeutic activities in health and social care
  • the impact of diet on health


Where does the level 2 BTEC Diploma in Health & Social Care take me?

The BTEC Diploma in Health & Social Care provides a nationally recognised vocational qualification to enter employment as a health or care worker or to progress to a higher level vocational qualification such as the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care.
