New Diplomas: Sport & Active Leisure


Why study the New Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure?

This is a course that involves you in a variety of theoretical and practically based work.  Assessment is in the form of assignments.  Your assignments involve realistic, workplace activities.  It is for learners who seek to acquire knowledge and develop skills in relevant sport and leisure industries.

What do I study?

The course consists of three parts:

Principle Learning is the largest part of the course and the content is unique to Sport and Active Leisure.
Generic Learning is common to all Diplomas and consists of Functional Skills in English, Maths and IT; Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) and work experience.
Additional/Specialist Learning consists of taking another qualification in addition to the Diploma e.g. GCSE/AS level

Where does the New Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure take me?

The course is equivalent to three A-levels and is a recognised entry qualification for Higher Education.  It has particular value for courses in Sport Science, PE, Sports Studies, Sports Therapy.  The course is also recognised by employers and opportunities in the health and fitness industry, sports injury clinics, coaching and sports development would be available.

What do I need?

To be successful in the course you require a keen interest in sport and science.
