‘Sleeping Beauty’, the 2009 Palmer’s College annual pantomime, entertained thousands of local school children and members of the community, raising £1000 for the St Luke’s Hospice during the last show.

The year 2 BTEC Performing Arts students put on a spectacular performance for youngsters, all from local primary schools in Thurrock who thoroughly enjoyed the show along with their teachers and parents.

There was also a special performance for the Scouts during the festive season and three evening performances, which were all sold out. The students performed this pantomime over an amazing 17 performances.

Senior Curriculum Manager for Performing Arts, Steve Grosvenor said: “The students did a magnificent job in each and every performance. The show completes a practical part of their course, the Children’s Theatre unit so it is important that each member of the cast has an equal part to play but it also provides a wonderful practical learning experience for the student cast.

He added: “The back stage team were a fundamental part to the success of the shows as well as the BTEC Performing Arts first year students who were a big help.”
