A number of male teaching staff binned their razors this month to grow moustaches to help raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity and increase the awareness of men’s health at Palmer’s College.
‘Team Palmer’s’ have been busy spreading the word about ‘Movember’ on campus and encouraging support from staff and students. The team aim to raise £500 and are very close to reaching their target.
Teacher of Music Technology and organiser of the event, Andy Mayell said: “I would like to thank all the students and staff who have donated so far. If we have helped to raise the awareness of men’s health issues within the College then that will have been a great achievement, as well as raising much needed funds for the charity.”
‘Team Palmer’s’ consists of PE teaching staff – Ritchie Naylor, Stuart Munday, Steve Watterson and Ryan Hodgson and Paul Watts – Learning Consultant. Female staff have also been supporting the boys and more importantly helping to judge the best groomed tash at Palmer’s!
2009 is Movember’s third year here in the UK and, to date, has achieved some pretty amazing results by working alongside The Prostate Cancer Charity in raising awareness for men’s health – specifically prostate cancer.
