Palmer's College were proud of both of its students scooping the Citizen of the Year Award.

Melissa Eades left the College this year with fantastic achievements and ex-student Rebecca Bluemore, left the College last year with a BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Now 19, Melissa joined Palmer's College three years ago after living with epilepsy since the age of three. Making frequent visits to the hospital in between her studies did not dictate her life; even though she felt different because of her condition her aspiration of going to university was not affected. In 2007, Melissa decided to study for a BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care despite being on a strong dosage of medication which affects her ability to process information and her personality and self-confidence. Melissa has come through it all and is now at Surrey University - well done Melissa!

Melissa was also awarded the Principal's Prize on the same night as part of the College's annual Prize Giving ceremony.

Rebecca has dedicated herself to helping in all aspects of community life. She has been chairman of Thurrock Youth Cabinet and has promoted the 'Life not Knife' scheme.

Mark Vinall, Principal of Palmer's College said: "I am delighted with the achievements and aspirations of both students.  The support received from the College has been invaluable along with their own determination and commitment in securing a great future."
