Students are being encouraged to get active and test out there moves by learning how to Street Dance just like local heroes Diversity!
Street Dance sessions were introduced by the College last week to improve participation in sports/activities. Over 30 students attend to show off their moves as well as get active in College. The sessions are held weekly for 10 weeks, cost nothing to attend and taught by a specialist Street Dance teacher.
The College is funded by the FESCo (Further Education Sports Coordinator) project to organise sporting opportunities for students to help build leadership, team-working and sporting skills and increase participation in physical activities to improve health.
Mark Vinall, Principal of Palmer’s College said: "The College is committed to providing a selection of fitness opportunities on campus to help students maintain a healthy lifestyle."
The College’s FESCo Co-ordinator, Ryan Hodgson said: “The first two sessions have gone really well, this is the first time the College has introduced new and upbeat dance sessions during lunch-times. They have proved to be a big hit with students who are especially passionate about dance and keen to keep fit.”
He added: “The students have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and had fun. There has been a range of abilities, both male and female.”
Other activities on offer on campus include basketball, football, Cricket, Table Tennis and Squash. The College is also keen on introducing coaching courses and hoping to continue offering the Street Dance sessions.
